Mr. Curtis Tipton is the Director of Bands at Parkview High School. Mr. Tipton's previous teaching
experiences include serving as the Director of Bands at Houston High School in Houston, Missouri and as the
Associate Director of Bands at Mountain Grove High School in Mountain Grove, Missouri. During Mr. Tipton's first
year of teaching at Mountain Grove, he was the recipient of the Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education
(MACTE) "Outstanding Beginning Teachers Award." During Mr. Tipton's time at Houston High School the band program more
than tripled in student enrollment and involvement.
Mr. Tipton attended Missouri State University for his undergraduate B.S. in Music Education degree. During his time
at Missouri State he was a very active member of the PRIDE Band, serving as a section leader and junior staff member.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Tipton served two years on the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) board as the Missouri
Collegiate Music Educator's (CMENC) State President and another two years as the Southwest Seven State-Regional CMENC
President. While teaching at Houston High, Mr. Tipton completed his Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Drury University.
At Parkview, Mr. Tipton serves as the Director of Bands for the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band,
Jazz Band, and the Lab Band. Mr.
Tipton also assists Mrs. Christy Church at Carver Middle School with the beginning bands. Mr. Tipton's professional
affiliations/memberships include MENC (The National Association for Music Education), MMEA (The Missouri Music Educators
Association), MSTA (The Missouri State Teachers Association), Phi Beta Mu (Honorary Band Director Fraternity), and MBA (The Missouri Bandmasters Association).
